In a letter to his brother Theo, Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh wrote, “This morning I saw the country from my window a long time before sunrise, with nothing but the morning star, which looked very big.” That view from his sanitarium window, overlooking the French village of Saint-Remy, would become his magnum opus.
The 1889 original of “The Starry Night” has been in New York’s Museum of Modern Art since 1941, but this is your chance to enjoy it close up. A collectible enameled box and a necklace are beautifully-crafted versions of one of the world’s most famous views.
