Developed at the behest of King Louis XVIII in 1821, the chronograph has become one of those accessories that a man can’t live without.

As the story goes, his majesty loved horse races and was curious to know how long each sprint lasted. French watchmaker Nicolas Mathieu Rieussec was commissioned to create a contraption that would do the job. Rieussec developed the first commercialized chronograph, and the rest, as they say, is history.

In this modern take on classical technology, we’ve taken a precision movement that oscillates 32,768 times each second and placed it in a rough-and-tumble stainless steel housing. Sleek, durable and priced for less than you’d think, this chronograph is water-resistant up to 3 ATM, includes a date window and has the type of green face that’s currently en vogue.
